“Notable, too, was Jonathan Christopher singing the role of Maximillan, Cunegonde’s brother, who can never seem to let go of fundamental biases.”

“I want to make special note, however, of Jonathan Christopher's work in a scene where his wife comes back for a few moments and recognizes him. This was the moment that brought me to tears, and that was largely due to Christopher.”

2020.
So many ups and downs. People came together, people become more and more divided. Change is finally in the air, let's hope that it leads to the diminishing of this pandemic.
My year started off having learned all my tracks as a new company member in the Philip Company of the HAMILTON NATIONAL TOUR. In March I took a leave of absence to work at NY City Center Encores! with my Broadway IDOLS Victoria Clark, Kate Baldwin, and Brian STOKES Mitchell on the Weill/Lerner musical LOVE LIFE. We staged the show, the the entertainment industry shut down. Upon returning to Toronto Canada then shut down, and I've remained up north ever since.
It's interesting to observe the US while abroad, especially this year, but in a way I feel more united with my family, friends, and musical colleagues than ever before, through FaceTime, virtual concerts, and collaborations. Over the summer I began giving concerts over my patio railing for the neighbors, singing Broadway and Pop favorites, cheering up those who had been on their own for months.
This December I will present a concert called ANOTHER YEAR HAS GONE BY, an On-Demand concert which explores the themes of this year, ending on a note of hope for what 2021 will bring, celebrating the highs and lows of such a tumultuous era in our lives. We must remember to live fiercely, love strongly, and keep making art, even when almost everything is taken away from us. Sending you lots of love and hope as we end the year. Thank you for listening, thank you for supporting. xo Jonathan
